Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) recently implemented a resort-wide recycling program, including hotels, restaurants, office buildings and mountain operations and hired GMWS to provide commercial recycling services in the form of customized, large, roll-off recycling containers that are segregated in to the seven categories of recyclables. The system allows recyclables collected from all areas of the resort to be brought to a central location and transported the recycling center in Gunnison by GMWS.
The result of this action was an immediate success through providing specialized equipment needed to facilitate the collection of recycled materials from CBMR’s many operations, thereby reducing a considerable volume of material into the waste stream in Gunnison county. In one month GMWS has helped to recycle over 10 tons of corrugated cardboard from CBMR. CBMR is a proud partner of GMWS.
Here in the Gunnison Valley we all know that there has been a limited amount of curbside pickup for recycling. We would like to change this. We are working toward curbside pick up for all of the recyclables that are accepted at the Gunnison Recycling Center. These materials include aluminum, tin, plastics 1 and 2, green clear and brown glass, newspapers, magazines, office pack, corrugated cardboard and paperboard.
